Description
Khashayar Javanmardi’s Caspian: A Southern Reflection presents a poignant photographic exploration of the environmental crisis impacting the world’s largest inland body of water. Blending atmospheric visual poetry with stark documentary photography, the book captures the dire state of the Caspian Sea’s Iranian shores, ravaged by pollution, overfishing, and climate change. Through powerful imagery, Javanmardi portrays the diminishing livelihoods of local fishermen and the fragile balance of life along the coastline.
This is the first chapter in Javanmardi’s ongoing investigation into the Caspian region, where his activist lens captures not only the devastation but also the resilience of nature and its human stewards. A must-read for anyone invested in climate activism, cultural identity, and the intersection of humanity and the environment.
