Artist talk with Sara Terry on the occasion of the exhibition Her Take, in conversation with Danaé Panchaud, director of the Photoforum.
Sara Terry is an award-winning documentary photographer and filmmaker, following a long, award-winning career in print and public radio. A member of VII photo agency, she is best known for her work as a post-conflict storyteller. Terry won a 2012 Guggenheim Fellowship for her long-term project, Forgiveness and Conflict: Lessons from Africa. She is also the founder of The Aftermath Project, grant-making, educational non-profit which supports photographers working on post-conflict stories. She is currently working on the conceptual project about gender, representation and power (Re)Thinking the Male Gaze, presented in the exhibition Her Take. She is currently working on her third documentary, That’s How We Roll, about mobile home parks and the affordable housing crisis, an excerpt of which is also on view at the Photoforum.
The artist talk will cover (Re)Thinking the Male Gaze, the exhibition project Her Take with the female photographers of VII Photo Agency, as well as broader issues surrounding gender, power and representation.
The conversation will be held in English. Questions in German and French welcome.
