Projection Blue, Derek Jarman, GB 1993, 74′
Derek Jarman’s film Blue represents one of the great challenges in the history of cinema. Determined, the artist confronts his illness, which slowly blinds him and inevitably leads to his death, with a screen open to all winds: it is blue, and nothing else. Through the soundtrack – which constitutes a powerful poem of sounds, texts and music, and creates fascinating transversal links between his personal biography, history and current events – the film draws its own space and invites each viewer to project his or her own imaginary film into the free spaces that present themselves.
Admission charge for discussion and screening
