Schools, children, and youth groups
Photoforum Pasquart’s Art Mediation Service offers a variety of workshops and exhibition tours for classes of all levels. We’re also happy to help you plan day trips, theme weeks, or longer-term school projects in the field of photography, image, and media skills.
Interactive tour
This interactive tour offers students a playful way to explore the exhibition. Through targeted questions, they engage with the artworks, question their claim to truth, and develop their own interpretations of the images. By taking on the role of mediators themselves, they learn from one another. (from 12 years old, 60 min)
Hidden face workshop
How do facial recognition algorithms work, and what happens to our images when we upload them online? Using examples such as surveillance cameras, smartphones, and AI, we explore these questions. We then experiment with make-up, hairstyles, masks, or glasses to try and outsmart these algorithms. This workshop offers a playful way to understand digital surveillance—and how to evade it.
Picture stories
What does an image reveal, and what does it conceal? What story does it tell us? In this workshop, we analyze different photographs and image series, exploring their content and emotional impact. Students learn to read and use body language and facial expressions. In small groups, they create their own stories and discover how to tell them through a series of photographs. (Suitable for children and primary school, 90 min)
Blue, the colour that creates images
How do images appear on paper? In this workshop, we explore cyanotype – one of the oldest photographic techniques that allows us to observe the creation of an image in real time. Using light-sensitive paper that reacts to sunlight, we create photograms from collected objects and cut-out shapes. Through this process, we delve into the themes of preservation and visibility, while discussing photography, archives, and documentary practices. (From kindergarten, only possible in sunny weather, 90 min)

Support for cultural activities in the schools of Biel/Bienne, support by the Canton of Berne
All our workshops are supported by the City of Biel. School classes from kindergarten to 11 years of age can take advantage of this offer and book these activities free of charge. As the number of classes that can benefit from this offer is limited, we recommend booking the activity as soon as possible. The Canton of Berne offers school classes cultural vouchers for the cost of transport to a cultural venue. The Canton of Bern also supports cultural projects in schools.
